4.0 Transition and Digitization

During an important event about 4.0 Transition and Digitization, Solema was selected as a model company for productive and innovative development.

On March 1st , at Despe S.p.A. – a leading company from Torre de Roveri (BG) in the demolition, engineering consulting, decommissioning and reclamation sectors – an important event was held organized by CDO Bergamo, CDO Roma, and MIMIT which was attended by many companies from the Bergamo area including Solema.

The event, which took place under the guide of Giuseppe Panseri, President of Despe, and his sons Stefano and Roberto, featured as speakers Alberto Capitanio, Gigi Brambilla and Sergio Serra, respectively president and co-directors of CDO Bergamo. The aim of the meeting was to discuss about incentives for companies in the next future together with the Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy Marco Calabrò.

The prospects of the 4.0 Transition Plan and the development of work digitization and innovation processes

The main objective of the meeting was to illustrate in detail the prospects of the 4.0 Transition Plan – to which Calabrò himself contributed to the drafting – in order to learn more about the concessions and incentives for companies provided by the government, with the aim of improving the development of the production process and the digitization and innovation of work.

Here is an excerpt from Calabrò’s speech about digitization in companies: «Since 2017 we have brought 4.0 culture and digitization to the manufacturing world with the replacement of machinery and the modernisation of companies. By 2023 we will put our hands on the new 4.0 plan with the reorganization of traditional and tax incentives, trying to direct it towards higher goals by accompanying manufacturing companies to the 4.0 transformation with true innovation».

Solema selected by CDO Bergamo as a model company

At the end of the event, Calabrò expressed the desire to visit some companies in the nearby to personally check the situation of the Bergamo area manufacturing sector.
Solema, on the recommendation of CDO Bergamo, has been included in the list of the selected ‘model companies’ and therefore worthy of a visit by the government representative.

The visit, which was held at our headquarters in Pedrengo, was also based on the innovation and digitization of work. Doing the honours, Luca Parsani and Giuseppe Magri, respectively CEO and Administrative Director of Solema, that, in addition to an overall tour of the company where automation technology is born and takes shape, presented to Calabrò the recent progress of our company in terms of innovation thanks to the Tools4Arms project, the first series of tools for robotic arms dedicated to Graphic Arts, entirely designed and developed by Solema.

sales meeting

Calabrò had the chance to see Alpha681, Omega682 and Omega683 running, the new sophisticated devices for palletizing and depalletizing books and book blocks. Innovative robots designed and built using the best anthropomorphic robotic arms on the market, which, completed with the Solema patented gripper, can accommodate stacks of sewn, glued or hardcover book blocks with the same gentleness of a real hand.

Solema partnership with ITS and ITIS institutes

During his speech in Despe, Calabrò also mentioned the issue of lack of human resources inside the companies: «All business sectors are paying for the lack of human resources. An upgrade of competences at all levels must be an absolute priority, starting from professional schools, in order to train personnel who can bridge the relationship between supply and demand in the world of work».

And, regarding professional schools, Luca Parsani illustrated to Calabrò the fruitful collaboration that Solema has for some years with some ITS and ITIS institutes in the province of Bergamo, a relationship that has led to a series of meetings with the students in which we presented the company and our work method, both in the manufacturing, commercial and sales aspects.

Thanks to CDO Bergamo, a point of reference for our area!

In the end, we would like to thank CDO Bergamo – in the persons of Sergio Serra, Gigi Brambilla and Alberto Capitanio – for the perfect organization of the event, for the support provided and for having included us in the list of ‘model companies’.

CDO (Compagnia delle Opere) is a reference point association in our area that offers services in support of SMEs, facilitating companies to do business by helping them, for example, in the management of loans, personnel training, and relations with banks. CDO Bergamo has recently created a network between companies through the ‘Factory for Excellence’ project, a learning community to teach good practices with entrepreneurs willing to exchange ideas and open the doors of the place that generates innovation, digitization, restart, care of human resources, ability to stay on the market and to excel.

We and our customers greatly appreciate the tools provided to us by CDO and we strongly believe that production development will help improve innovation and growth in the coming years.

We want to thank Despe and the Panseri’s family for the hospitality and welcome shown us throughout the event.
We also thank Marco Calabrò for the time he has dedicated to us and for having shown care to companies by listening to the needs of those who are committed every day to improving and developing the digitization and innovation of work.
