ALPHA681

Alpha681 is Solema first robotic arm application. This tool has been developed with the aim of automatically de-palletizing pallets of softcover books, hardcover books, sewn book blocks or folding carton.

The Alpha681 robotic arm tool picks up one row of pile at a time from the pallet to de-palletize the products on a pallet. Once the row of products has been picked up, the tool can place the books on a roller conveyor and feed the production line. Row after row, Alpha681 empties the pallet one layer at a time. The suction cups remove the slipsheets which gradually become free, letting them fall delicately into the slipsheet deposit site.

The extreme accuracy of the gripping movements and the air cushioning system guarantee the utmost care when handling the products.

FAQ

A row de-palletizer arm is an industrial robot that automatically picks products from a pallet and transfers them onto the production line, replacing manual depalletizing. Solema's Alpha 681 is engineered specifically for the graphic arts industry. It operates with a proprietary Solema gripper featuring a patented component that picks an entire row of products at a time.
The Alpha 681 locates the row to be picked using dedicated detection systems. The gripper positions itself under the layer sheet and mechanically drags the row of stacks inside. Because the product support element slides directly beneath the layer sheet, the product encounters no obstacles during the transfer. A series of cylinders then secures the row to keep it stable during movement.
The Alpha 681 can handle sewn, hardcover, softcover (paperback), or gauzed books.
Yes. The Alpha 681 is equipped with suction cups that automatically pick and deposit layer sheets (interleaves) throughout the depalletizing process.
The Alpha 681 is ideal for automating lines where production volumes do not justify a traditional high-capacity machine, such as our Venus depalletizer. The robot requires a lower investment and is the perfect choice for short runs and frequent format changes, thanks to its fast changeover times.
Setup times are in the range of a few minutes. Recipes are created directly from the control panel by entering data for the pallet, the rows that compose it, and the product forming the rows. New recipes can even be prepared while the robot is running. The only manual mechanical adjustment involves mounting the required number of extension pieces indicated on the panel, an operation that takes just a few minutes.
. Installation and commissioning typically take about two weeks, depending on the layout, and conclude with operator training.
The footprint is defined on a project-by-project basis, as it depends on the number of pallets, the type of safety guards (fencing or light curtains), and the final destination of the products. Our engineering department designs the layout best suited to the space available in your facility.
