OMEGA693-12

Omega693-12 is an advanced palletizing solution based on collaborative robotic technology with an anthropomorphic arm, designed for the efficient handling of products such as sewn, digital and gauzed book blocks as well as  soft cover, hard cover, boxes and folding carton.

The robot - in this case, a cobot - handles the special OMEGA693 tool, which was developed to transfer a pile of products onto the pallet with each movement. OMEGA693 does not require any protective nets and is therefore ideal for being moved from one production line to another. OMEGA693 allows to customize palletizing pattern thanks to the possibility of changing orientation with each pile.

The OMEGA693 solution consists of two complementary units:

  • the anthropomorphic arm
  • its respective pick-up station

Both are managed by the flexpendant, so that production and recipe creation can be controlled from a unique HMI.

FAQ

A palletizing cobot is a collaborative robot that automatically builds pallets at the end of the line and, unlike traditional industrial robots, can operate alongside operators without safety fencing. Solema's Omega 693-12 is engineered specifically for the graphic arts industry. The cobot is mounted alongside the infeed roller conveyor on a single wheeled base, palletizing book stacks within a compact footprint.
The book stacks arrive on the roller conveyor integrated into the base, where the cobot picks them using a mechanical gripper that keeps them stable during transfer. Dedicated sensors verify pallet height and product presence, ensuring each stack is deposited in the exact position. The cobot can operate on one or two pallets.
No. With the Omega 693-12, there is no risk of damaging the picked product, thanks to the specific engineering of the gripper.
Because a collaborative palletizing robot combines automation, operational flexibility, and a compact footprint. The Omega 693-12 allows you to automate lines with lower production volumes at a lower investment compared to traditional palletizers, and it can easily be moved from one line to another as needed.
Not on the 693-12 version: the layer sheet (interleaf) is inserted manually by the operator. When it is time to place a sheet, a visual and acoustic signal alerts the operator; if the cobot is working on two pallets, it continues on the second one in the meantime, without stopping production. Automatic layer sheet placement is available as an option on the Omega 693-20 version.
The Omega 693-12 comes standard with area laser scanners that detect operator presence. When someone approaches, the cobot automatically slows down and, below a safety threshold, temporarily stops, resuming operation once the area is clear. This minimizes risk for operators.
Yes, the cobot supports dual-stack picking. The software, fully developed in-house by Solema, is engineered to offer maximum operational flexibility to meet diverse production needs.
Yes. Thanks to the safety laser scanners, the operator can approach and replace a full pallet while the cobot is running. The cobot slows down or temporarily pauses only when necessary, keeping the line operational.
Yes. The cobot and roller conveyor are mounted on a single mobile base equipped with wheels for easy relocation. The two side arms—which serve as pallet stops and house the laser scanners at the perimeter of the working zone—are foldable to further facilitate movement.
Yes. The cobot is available in various configurations detailed in the technical catalog. For sizes not listed in the standard catalog, customized solutions can be evaluated during the engineering phase.
